Emma woke the next morning sore but loving every bit of it. Surrounded by Tate and Tucker, she quietly got out of bed and headed for the bathroom. Jumping in the shower, she quickly washed her hair and shaved her legs. She stepped out, grabbing a towel and wrapping it around her body. Within minutes, she had brushed her teeth and donned her clothes, ready to start a new day.

Walking down the hallway, she stopped to peek in on Tabitha to find her sleeping peacefully. Emma was in the kitchen cooking breakfast when Travis walked in the back door. She watched as he removed his hat and grabbed a cup of coffee, placing a letter in front of her.

“What’s this?” Emma asked, holding the white envelope in her hand.

“I forgot to check the mail yesterday. You got mail.”

“Thanks,” Emma replied, looking at the letter addressed to her. There was no return address but it was postmarked from Billings. Her brow wrinkled, trying to remember if she knew anyone from that area, but no one came to mind.

“Problem, Emma?” Travis asked, looking up from his cup of coffee.

“No. It’s just I left in such a hurry, I never got the chance to change my address. Who could have sent me a letter?”

Travis lowered his cup, placing it on the table as he watched Emma flip the letter over to open it. Her tiny finger slid beneath the fold, and he jumped to his feet, racing to grab the letter. “Emma! Don’t open that letter!” Travis shouted as he grabbed it away from her.

“What the hell, Travis, greedy much? Give me back that letter,” Emma said angrily, reaching around his broad shoulders to grab the letter back. “Come on, Travis, let me have it back.”

“Emma, are you sure you didn’t put in a change of address?”

“Yes. I told you I didn’t have the time. Why?”

Emma watched as Travis ripped open the letter and read. Like a professional poker player, Travis didn’t show one iota of emotion. He just stood there reading, and then as if it were nothing, he walked into the living room and threw it in the fire.

“Travis Treasure Quinn, why did you do that? That was my letter,” Emma scolded him, angry that he held little regard for her personal things.

“It wasn’t for you, Emma,” Travis said, stoking the fire, making sure every last piece of paper burnt.

“It was addressed to me, not you!” she shouted.

He then turned to her. Hard steel shone through his eyes. “It wasn’t for you, Emma.”

Emma knew then it was from him, that guy. Quietly sitting on the couch, she watched the last bit of white paper burn, and then there was nothing. No remainder of what was, gone as if it had never happened. “Travis, he knows I’m here. He will come for what he wants. He made that perfectly clear.”

“He won’t come within a hundred yards of this place. Not with me and my brothers here with you all the time.
